What our visitors say

Wow!! What a gorgeous lodge and a stunning location. A long journey but rewarded with spectacular scenery en-route

I could have sat for hours in front of that beautiful big window in the lounge just looking out across Loch Sunart, watching for otters and any other wildlife that made an appearance, such as the pine marten that visited to eat the cashew nuts I put out, or the three stags grazing on the hillside behind.

We visited the most glorious white sand beach at Sanna, seeing many deer on the way. Brightwater lodge is a very special place and I just wish we had longer. We will be back!!

PS. The binoculars were a godsend.

Our second stay in beautiful Ardnamurchan and we can’t get enough of this fantastic place.
The lodge is a wonderful place in such a fantastic position.  The ever changing light on the loch and the mountains – who needs tv, wi-fi etc!
Didn’t see any otters but we did see Golden Eagles, Sea Eagle, Pine Marten, Red Deer and many birds including Great Northern Diver.
Special thanks to Christine and Ian and for the basket of goodies!
A complete life reset and we will be back.

An amazing lodge in an incredibly beautiful area! The views from the lodge are stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife. We also experienced some incredible weather – a violent thunder-hail storm and then Narnia-esque snow scenery whilst driving inland. We visited Sanna bay in a snow storm and did a ferry trip to Tobermory from Kilchoan. The neighbouring distillery is well worth a tour!
The lodge is very well equipped and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. We hope to return soon, perhaps in the summer one year.

Many thanks

Such a fantastic place, we’ve been coming here for the last eight years and are so pleased the new owners (and property managers) have embraced the Macgregors ethos, and dare I say, built upon it, with a lovely welcoming package and attentive service.

For us the lodge is a place to relax, we are never in a hurry to get out and about, we prefer to laze about in the morning, enjoying the property and watching the season and passing wildlife on the best screen Imax can’t buy. Following lunch – whatever the weather – it’s a trip to the many natural beauty spots within a 45 min radius. The beaches, the mountains, the woodlands are all there to be explored. A new discovery for us this year was the circular walk (silver walk) near castle Tioram, just past Acharacle. It takes in the beautiful scenery around Loch Moidart, crossing over moorland and through rocky (and boggy) terrain before dropping down through woodlands. It clocks in at around 6km and whilst tricky in places, should pose no threat to the average walker.

We cant imagine a February without Ardnamurchan and hope to continue to return for the foreseeable future.

Thanks so much

Our first stay in beautiful Ardnamurchan. The views from the lodge are fantastic. Thank you for the welcome basket, the yummy scones and wonky marmalade “love the name!”
We have been very lucky with 5 days of sunshine. Met some very interesting people, all the local shopkeepers are very helpful indeed. Enjoyed watching the wildlife and birds, Red Deer and Sea Eagles. We went to Kentra and walked to Singing Sands. This is a wonderful place, beautiful beach, spectacular black volcanic rocks and lovely view of Small Isles. Look out for diving ducks, cormorants and seals. Another day we went to Sanna Beach, wonderful sands, no café or toilets but lovely for a picnic.

Thanks to Meryl and Budgie, special thanks to Christine and Ian, what a great team. Hope to see you soon as Bob and I have found our special place! All the best, Margaret.

What a joy to spend a week relaxing, walking and immersing yourself in Ardnamurchan time out! Waking up to this view is very special, spending evenings watching the sun set is magical. This is a special place, which will draw us back for sure. Thank you for your wonderful welcome pack – you have thought of everything. Thank you for providing such a beautiful haven – which is Brightwater Lodge.

What can we say .…. What a welcome!  Best welcome pack (ever).  Nice touch.
Another wonderful week in this beautiful part of the world. We’ve really enjoyed turning the sofa around, admiring the view and feeding/watching the tweety birds.  We had blue tits, goldfinch, wag tails, bullfinch, yellow hammer, green finch, seagulls, buzzard, herons, grebes and a wonderful Sea Eagle!  Unfortunately no otters or deer this time, but that just means we’ll have to come back yet again (this is our 12th year of returning).  We only hoped we had won the lottery so we could stage a sit in!  A big ‘herumph’ as we leave this beautiful property and location.  Weather amazing again.  Be kind to the birds by buying seeds, nuts and coconut fat from the Visitors Centre, along with a hot chocolate and a cheeky slice of cake of course!

Our second stay in this area and, once again, it didn’t disappoint. The view from the lodge is worth the trip in itself. It proved the perfect place for two uni-age kids to study, complete assignments and generally de-stress.  The table outside was a lovely spot for board games, dinner and quiet cups of tea.

Anyone who hasn’t visited the area before would do well visiting Sanna beach/sand dunes, Mull (Tobermory and Calgary Bay/Arts Trail are particular highlights), Strontian Community Woodlands for a short but pretty walk and Castle Tioram and surrounding area. Lots of little community stores around – we recommend the shortbread from the Acharacle bakery – but the Tobermory Co-op is probably best for a “big shop.”

Many thanks to Ian and Christine for looking after us so well – reassuring to know they are on hand for any minor dramas and the welcome hamper was, indeed, very welcome!

Wishing future guests a very happy holiday. We’ll certainly be back at some point!

Such a wonderful stay at Brightwater Lodge! Was the perfect spot to share with our daughter and son-in-law who live overseas. Plenty of nights round the fire playing games.

We enjoyed our trip to Mull, lovely walk to the lighthouse and a highlight was definitely climbing Ben Hiant, as well as a tour of the distillery to visit our barrel.

Sadly didn’t see any otters (but there’s always next time!) but saw plenty of seals and eagles and much more!

Big thank you to Ian and Christine for the welcome hamper and delicious homemade cake, we felt very at home here!

Will definitely be recommending to others and SO look forward to our next stay at Brightwater Lodge!  A truly special place!

Just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had in Brightwater Lodge. It was utterly amazing and we really didn’t want to leave – we all agreed that we’d be back in a heartbeat! We spent hours gazing out of those wonderful picture windows just watching the ever-changing landscape over the Loch and being entertained by the huge variety of birds visiting the feeders. And of course we were SO excited when the pine marten came to visit – you can’t imagine how thrilled we were on the first night when he made his appearance, such a character! He saw him every night after that, apart from one, so we were very lucky. Krish had a great birthday and the cake and card etc was such a lovely touch and very much appreciated, big thanks to Christine and Ian. We all had a brilliant afternoon kayaking with Karl from Otter Adentures – a ‘first’ for Krish and myself and the weather couldn’t have been better. We stopped for a brew and then he produced a selection of Kate’s cakes complete with a little candle to wish Krish a happy birthday too – it was such a nice touch and made it even more memorable. The boys spent a day on Staffa Island, which they said was incredible. Being able to see those gorgeous puffins at such close range was unbelievable.
I could go on and on extolling the virtues of your wonderful holiday home … (as I did in the Visitors Book!), but alas I must catch up with all my work now. We do hope we will be able to visit again in the not too distant future and thank you for making this holiday such a great experience with special memories to cherish.
Sending our very best wishes to you all

This was our twelfth visit to Brightwater, it gets better every time.   Thank you so much for our welcome basket and for the bottled water, we really appreciate it so much.

Love sitting in the lovely big windows overlooking the loch.  Have seen pine martens and badgers. Sadly no otters around this time but have had a really lovely holiday! Hope to come back soon.
