Take a walk on the wild side

The Isle of Tiree is the sunniest place in Britain, and Ardnamurchan lies just a few miles away across the sea. Consequently, the weather in Ardnamurchan can be surprisingly good. Amazing micro climates can mean sunshine, even when it is cold and wet in other areas.

Once a major volcanic area, you can still clearly see the shape of some of the volcanic craters formed on the West Coast millions of years ago. Children will love hunting for fossils, probably well trodden by dinosaurs.

Ardnamurchan offers such a wide range of places to enjoy, visit stunning, often deserted white sandy beaches with crystal clear turquoise seas, such as Sanna, where you could be forgiven for thinking you have dropped into a parallel universe and are in a tropical paradise somewhere.

An abundance of

For wildlife enthusiasts, Ardnamurchan is one of the least spoiled areas of Britain, rich in flora and fauna, it is home to an abundance of wildlife. From Whales, Bottlenose Dolphins, Seals and Porpoise to Otters, Pine Martens, Deer and Red Squirrels.

The perfect location for wildlife photography, and for birdwatchers the list of birds in this area is endless, from the tiny Siskin to the majestic Golden Eagle.  Remote and unspoilt, the wildlife here is indigenous.

“ Boat trips offer sea mammal enthusiasts even greater opportunities to see these fabulous creatures against the breathtaking backdrop of this beautiful peninsula ”

The Islands

Island hopping can be a great adventure, Ferries run from Kilchoan and Mull to many of the tiny west coast islands, with their glorious white sandy beaches and undisturbed wildlife. Between April and July a trip to Staffa is a must to wonder at the dramatic Fingals Cave, or get up close to the puffins with a visit to Lunga.
